Moving from a fossil fueled energy economy to a sustainable powered future requires massive energy storage to solve the mismatch between generation and consumption. The most efficient technology for short term storage (milliseconds to days) are batteries. Common batteries still have shortcomings in terms of intrinsic safety, sustainability and ethics. This is what we want to change with our products!

Our vision and goal

Arkimedes strives for safer batteries with lower carbon footprints and made of more sustainable materials than current battery technologies (NMC and Lead-acid based).

Applications

The batteries of Arkimedes can be widely used in all sorts of situations

Off-grid power supply

Providing power on locations that don’t have access (yet) to the electricity grid. The battery can be charged locally (e.g. via solar panels) or via our electricity delivery trucks. Examples are construction yards, festivals and residential areas/companies that are waiting to be connected to the electricity grid.

Stabilisation of the (local) electricity grid

Addition of sustainable electricity (generated by windmills and solar panels) to the grid makes the grid unstable due to the highly intermittent behaviour of these generations. These fluctuations need to be balanced in order to stabilise the grid. Batteries are very capable in neutralising these fluctuations due to their rapid response time.

Temporarily electricity storage

The generation of renewable electricity is non-continuous so storage of excess electricity needs to be stored (locally) to ensure that this can be used at a later moment. An example is electricity generated by solar cells during the day and providing it for powering devices after sunset. The price of electricity fluctuates throughout the day so electricity can also be stored when the price is low and be used whenever needed when the price is high.

Increasing safety in electric vehicles

The LFP batteries of Arkimedes are safer than the common batteries that are based on NMC and lead-acid technology. These batteries are heavily used in vehicles and replacing them by the LFP-batteries enhances the safety and durability of these vehicles.

Electricity all time

Using the battery as a backup electricity supply. This allows you to always have access to electricity, even during a power shutdown.
